New study shows positive correlation between teaching effectiveness and participant self-reflection

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic and Harbour-University of California Los Angeles Medical Center conducted one of the first known studies showing a positive correlation existing between teaching effectiveness and participant self-reflection in conference-based CME. Findings also showed that older, rather than younger, learners showed greater self-reflection, which may be related to having more experience on which to reflect; and that CME presenters should use active learning techniques, such as clinical cases and audience response systems, to increase participant self-reflection.
